Producing

Our chief producer, Mark Howells, is not only experienced in all aspects of recording but has also had a career as a professional musician. After graduating from the Royal Academy of Music where he studied the oboe with Lady Barbirolli, he won a number of competitions and was a finalist in the Shell/LSO Woodwind Scholarship competition.

He worked with many major orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Birmingham Orchestra, and English National Opera, as well as being the sub-principal oboist of the BBC Symphony Orchestra and principal oboist of the National Symphony Orchestra.

Alongside his performing work Mark also started to acquire a reputation as a record producer and editor, and as the demand for this side of his work increased he decided to concentrate on it full-time.

His record production has included work for Sir Simon Rattle, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, and Paul McCreesh with the Garbieli Consort, as well as many others. He is also experienced in BBC music broadcasts.

Mark would be happy to give advice on any particular project you may have.
